Este ano, a apresentação das principais categorias ficou a cargo dos atores Samira Wiley (Orange is The New Black, The Handmaid’s Tale) e Ryan Eggold (The Blacklist), sendo o grande Game of Thrones. A produção de fantasia épica, que estava inelegível no ano passado, teve 22 indicações no total – mais que qualquer outra série. Logo na cola vêm Saturday Night Live e Westworld, com 21 cada; e The Handmaid’s Tale, com 20.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, confirmou o favoritismo entre as minisséries com 18 indicações, incluindo praticamente todo o seu elenco entre os candidatos à estatueta. Já entre as comédias, Atlanta saiu na frente com 18 nomeações.
A grande surpresa da lista ficou por conta da virada da Netflix em relação a HBO: são 112 indicações para o serviço de streaming contra 108, marcando a primeira desbancada do canal a cabo americano em 16 anos.
